'Nature and Meaning' by Susan Deaton Is Featured in Park National Bank Art Gallery at UC-Clermont

"Nature and Meaning" by Susan Deaton, artist and writer from Corbin, Kentucky, is featured in the Park National Bank Art Gallery at UC Clermont College Jan. 5 – Feb. 2, 2017. A closing reception will take place Feb. 2 from 12-1 p.m. in the art gallery. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

Deaton builds shadows and leaves light to create depth on her two-dimensional works. Contrast and the use of positive and negative space inspires her to tell a story in each piece. “I believe my art can communicate both my love for nature and my contempt for the human actions that destroy it. Much of my art reflects the diverse beauty of Appalachia and the environmental issues the region faces with surface mining,” said Deaton.

The Park National Bank Art Gallery is located in the Snyder Building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more than 20 years, the spacious 1,000 square foot gallery has offered visual art exhibits open to UC Clermont students, faculty, staff and the general public.
