UC Libraries, IT@UC Host Second Annual UC DATA Day
The University of Cincinnati Libraries and IT@UC announce the 2nd annual UC DATA Day. Scheduled for Thursday, March 23 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. in TUC 400 ABC (see
), UC DATA Day 2017 will feature a full schedule of engaging events. All events are free and include lunch and an afternoon reception. The public is welcome.
The UC DATA Day 2017 keynote speaker is Philip E. Bourne, senior research investigator at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Prior to his current role, Bourne served as the first permanent associate director for data science for NIH and managed NIHs Big Data to Knowledge (BD2K) initiative. Other highlights of the UC DATA Day 2017s schedule include:
- Introductory remarks from Pat Limbach, vice president for research, Nelson Vincent, CIO and vice president for information technology, and Xuemao Wang, dean and university librarian.
- Two multi-disciplinary faculty researcher panels (list of panelists) will speak on their work with innovative or challenging data of any size big or small. Each panelist will highlight their data handling practices, challenges and future opportunities.
- A lunchtime UC Service Providers panel (IT@UC, Office of Research, UC Libraries and more) discussing campus support for researchers and research data management.
- Data Day Student Poster Session, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. (TUC 300 Atrium). Students will discuss their research and their data management practices. Student poster submission is now open.
- Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) Talks, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. (TUC 400 ABC) featuring two leading project management products now available for researchers: LabArchives and OSF (Open Science Framework).
