Nature on Display in UC Clermont Exhibit
The Park National Bank Art Gallery at UC Clermont College will feature the work of local artist Haley Farthing in Slowly, Closely: An Exhibition of Drawings. The exhibit will run through August 28.
Farthing describes her work as the exploration of her relationship with nature specifically, noticing and highlighting the small, delicate moments that are often overlooked in todays fast-paced world. She uses graphite, coal, watercolor and ink to create her drawings, which have been displayed in solo and group exhibitions across the country.
In some drawings I reduce the contrast, color and scale significantly to quieten the image and force a slower, more intimate viewing experience, says Farthing. In others, I amplify a tiny moment in nature on a large scale so the viewer is surrounded and the beauty is impossible to miss. The subjects in my drawings are the moments I find most powerful in the environment, and the finished images directly relate to my methods of looking, interacting and existing.
The Park National Bank Art Gallery
is located in the Snyder Building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia, Ohio, at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Summer gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m.4 p.m. For more than 20 years, the spacious 1,000 square-foot gallery has offered visual art exhibits open to UC Clermont students, faculty, staff and the general public.
