UC Clermont College plans to return Allied Health programs to Batavia campus

UC Clermont College is planning to bring back the Allied Health programs (located at UC East) to its 91-acre hillside campus in Batavia beginning in the spring of 2019.

UC Clermont has experienced significant growth in online programs across the college -- offering the college an opportunity to re-purpose classrooms and to grow programs that better serve the community.

"We are looking at ways to grow our Allied Health programs that meet the demands of the marketplace and community. Our new Academic Dean Mona Sedrak has spent her career in the Allied Health field and is already working to grow that area,"” said Dean Jeff Bauer.

New program offerings may include: EKG technician, phlebotomy technician, occupational therapist assistant, pharmacy technician, medical lab technician and patient care technician and reopening the Medical Assisting Program. The Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Therapy and Surgical Assisting, Surgical Technology, Medical Biller Coder and Cancer Registry programs are all in high demand and growing.

“"Having everyone on one campus will offer our students a chance to grow in an inter-professional educational environment across campus and within the health sciences field,"” said Mona Sedrak, associate dean of academics. "“It is important for students from different disciplines to learn with and from one another and share ideas together. This improves communication and is vital in today’s complex healthcare arena.”"

UC Clermont began offering classes at UC East — the former Ford Plant in Batavia — in the fall of 2010. All of the Allied Health programs will return. The college is still looking at options for the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program.

“"We are looking forward to welcoming faculty and students back to our ‘main campus,’”" said Bauer.
