Myles Pensak, MD, to Head Otolaryngology Department

Myles Pensak, MD, has been named chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the UC College of Medicine.

A professor in both the otolaryngology and neurosurgery departments at UC, Dr. Pensak has been on the College of Medicine faculty since 1984. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and was recently honored with the Distinguished Service Award of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, one of the oldest medical associations in the nation.

“We’re happy to have Dr. Pensak, who was trained at Yale and is internationally known as a researcher/surgeon with a focus in complex skull-based surgery, as chairman of otolaryngology,” says Ronald Sacher, MD, interim dean of the College of Medicine.

Dr. Pensak succeeds Jack Gluckman, MD, who has headed the department since 1991 and has been a member of the UC College of Medicine faculty since 1977.

Many physicians in UC’s otolaryngology department have been listed in Best Doctors in America, Best Doctors in the Midwest and Good Housekeeping magazine’s Best Doctors guide. The department has also been named one of the top 20 in the country by U.S. News & World Report magazine 10 times since 1993.
