UC Receives Grant from Research to Prevent Blindness
The Department of Ophthalmology at the UC College of Medicine has received a $110,000 grant from the Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) organization to study the causes, treatment and prevention of blinding diseases.
The UC ophthalmology department specializes in research into normal and abnormal development of the cornea, lens and retina, corneal wound healing, corneal gene functioning and signaling, and retinal and macular degeneration.
RPB, the worlds leading voluntary organization supporting eye research, has so far awarded UC grants totaling $595,000.
