Newest Medical Class Meets Newest Campus Building
The incoming students165 in totalhave the benefit of spending their next four years in the newest addition to the medical campus, the Center for Academic and Research Excellence (CARE)/Crawley Building.
The building houses a new bookstore, six floors of laboratories and key education space, including new gross anatomy labs and a newly designed health sciences library boasting nearly 45,000 square feet of space for study, research and instruction. First-year students complete their medical school orientation this week and begin classes Monday, Aug. 18.
The White Coat Ceremony begins at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, in
Charles Collins, MD, associate dean for diversity and community affairs, and Andrew Filak, MD, senior associate dean for academic affairs, will present each new student with a white coata symbol of the beginning of their medical career.
Lori Shutter, MD, associate professor of neurosurgery and recipient of the 2008 Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, sponsored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, will give the keynote address.

Vic and Laura Troha wrote two children's books together, and this year, they are using the proceeds to buy Christmas gifts for Hamilton County foster kids. The couple are both graduates of the University of Cincinnati's College of Allied Health Sciences and met the day they graduated.
