Service Honors Body Donors, Families
CINCINNATIThe annual memorial service for people who have donated their bodies to medical science will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in Kresge Auditorium on UCs medical campus.
The 2010 service will honor the families of more than 150 donors, whose cremated remains have recently been interred at a plot in Spring Grove Cemetery. Donor names from as far back as the 1930s will also be displayed during a reception at the ceremony.
Following the service at UC, participants will be invited to drive to the burial plot at Spring Grove Cemetery, where they can view a marker with the inscription, "Through Their Thoughtfulness Knowledge Grows.
UCs body donation programwhich receives more than 350 donations each year and has approximately 14,000 pre-registered donors on fileis one of the largest single-institution programs of its kind in the United States.
