Service Honors Body Donors, Families

CINCINNATI—The annual memorial service for people who have donated their bodies to medical science will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in Kresge Auditorium on UC’s medical campus.

The 2010 service will honor the families of more than 150 donors, whose cremated remains have recently been interred at a plot in Spring Grove Cemetery. Donor names from as far back as the 1930s will also be displayed during a reception at the ceremony.

Following the service at UC, participants will be invited to drive to the burial plot at Spring Grove Cemetery, where they can view a marker with the inscription, "Through Their Thoughtfulness Knowledge Grows.”

UC’s body donation program—which receives more than 350 donations each year and has approximately 14,000 pre-registered donors on file—is one of the largest single-institution programs of its kind in the United States.

A memorial service is held each year to publicly honor donors, their families and friends. For more information, contact Gina Burg at (513) 558-5612.
