Event Focuses on Needs of Advanced Breast Cancer Patients
CincinnatiOn April 30, women living with advanced breast cancer are invited to attend a free educational event that offers the latest information on treatment and support resources specific to the Greater Cincinnati region.
The eventcalled "The Many Faces of Breast Cancer takes place Saturday, April 30, 2011, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Kingsgate Marriott Conference Center, located at 151 Goodman Drive on the UC medical campus. It is free and open to the public.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of a panel of Cincinnati-based physicians, scientists and community advocates equipped to address the specific concerns and needs of patients dealing with advanced or metastatic breast cancer.
Specific presentation topics include treatment options, nutrition and diet guidelines, symptom management, psychosocial support as well as information on the latest advances in breast cancer research. Panelists include:
· Mahmoud Charif, MD, UC Health medical oncologist and UC College of Medicine assistant professor.
· Cindy Cassell, PhD, corporate health care consultant and owner of Nutrition Access LLC.
· Bonnie Crawford, the Wellness CommunityGreater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky program manager
· Ruth Lavigne, MD, UC Health radiation oncologist and UC College of Medicine assistant professor
· Elyse Lower, MD, medical oncologist, Oncology Hematology Care, Inc.
· Kelly McLean, MD, UC Health surgical oncologist and UC College of Medicine assistant professor.
· Minh-Doan Nguyen, MD, PhD, UC Health plastic and reconstructive surgeon and UC College of Medicine assistant professor.
