Faculty Research Grant Program Accepting Applications

Applications are now being accepted for the 2011 Faculty Research Grant Program from the University Research Council. Details for applying are available online at research.uc.edu/urcapply/ and applications are due by Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at 5 p.m.

The program provides summer stipend support or research support for the development of faculty research and scholarship. It provides financial support for faculty research programs, primarily for those in the initial stages of developing their research career. Successful applicants are expected to present records of prior activity that indicate a devotion to scholarship and the potential for high-quality achievement.

Any UC faculty member (including faculty at UC’s affiliates: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital medical Center, the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs-Cincinnati and Shriners Hospital for Children-Cincinnati) who has at least an 80 percent FTE appointment is eligible to apply. Faculty with more than $50,000 in extramural research support per year (direct costs) and those who received URC Faculty Research program funding in the 2010/2011 academic year are not eligible.

Research support (up to $6,500/year) or stipend support ($4,000/month for a total of $8,000) will be provided so that the awardee may pursue scholarly activities on a full-time basis from July 1 through Aug. 31, 2012.

Proposals will be evaluated primarily based on the scholarly merit of the proposed activities and the capabilities of the principal investigator. For questions, contact Dawn O’Neill at dawn.oneill@uc.edu.
