Focus on Staff With Diane Bolden

Diane Bolden is a financial administrator in the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine’s Department of Environmental Health’s business office. She has been with UC since 2001, working in environmental health since 2004. Here, Bolden shares why she enjoys being part of the UC medical campus and, specifically, the environmental health department.

How long have you worked in environmental health and at UC?

"I have been with University of Cincinnati for more than 10 years. In April of 2001, I started at the College of Evening and Continuing Education. I left there and went to DAAP for two years. Lucky for me, I was hired at the Department of Environmental Health in 2004. I work in the business office with best group of people you could ask for. It is easy to wake up and come to work every day … and not too many people can say that!"

What is a typical day for you?

"My typical day includes processing purchase orders, allocating/posting p-card expenses, requesting keys, and badge access. Because of the nature of my job, I work with and get to know everyone in our department, which is really nice."

What do you enjoy about your job?

"Getting to know so many people from different cultures and backgrounds is a lot of fun."

Before you came to UC, what was your background?

"I have a bachelor of arts in graphic design from Northern Kentucky University. I never pursued this career because I was settled into a job that I loved at the time I graduated. After seven years, I left that company to join the University of Cincinnati."

Do you have any hobbies?

"As with most working moms I have little, to no free time. I imagine the day I retire will be the day I will start to think about hobbies! My first project will be making three quilts out of the boys' baby clothes that I’ve been saving all these years."

Tell us something people may not know about you.

"When I was in high school, I often babysat for Ken Anderson’s kids (he was the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals during the 70s and 80s). He would actually come to my house and pick me up!"
