Focus on Staff With Angie Duke

Angie Duke, associate to Gregory Rouan, MD, chair of the department of internal medicine, is a native Cincinnatian, a wife of 20 years, a mother and an ordained minister. She received her associate degree in business administration and accounting from Ohio College of Business in 1988 and then received her bachelor of science degree in business management from the University of Phoenix in March 2007. She worked at General Electric Capital and International Paper before coming to the University of Cincinnati, first as a senior administrative assistant for the associate chairs through University Internal Medicine Associates. She began in her associate to the chairman role on an interim basis in the fall of 2011 and became official in the position in March 2012.

 

What are your duties?

"I support Dr. Rouan in his daily duties and maintain professional and prompt communication to the department.”

  

What is your favorite part of the job? 

"The challenge of it all!  Knowing that I have successfully completed a task in a timely manner and can move on to the next one.”

 

What do you like to do when you aren’t at work?

"Support my family as well as mentor young adults and youth. I’ve been a member of the National Network of Youth Ministries since 2010. In addition, I participate with citywide organizations to feed the homeless and clean urban communities.”

     

What are some of your interesting hobbies?

"I enjoy reading and sewing.”

 

Over the years, what has been your favorite sewing project?

"The dresses for my wedding party—20 years ago yesterday!”
