Four From Academic Health Center Honored with All-University Faculty Awards

Awards Celebration on Wednesday, April 17, in the Great Hall, Tangeman
University Center.

2013 Mrs. A.B. "Dolly Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching
UC recognized 14 faculty members in total at the celebration, as well as naming nine faculty members from the Academic Health Center as new Fellows of the Graduate School.
The Fellows of the Graduate School is an
organization that recognizes distinguished researchers and scholars from
throughout UC. New Fellows are elected annually by the current Fellows
and then appointed for life by the Board of Trustees.
The new fellows include:
- Jay Degen, PhD, professor of pediatrics
- David Hildeman, PhD, associate professor of pediatrics
- Keith Jones, PhD, professor of pharmacology and
cell biophysics,
- and Arnold Strauss, MD, B.K. Rachford Professor and Chair, Department of Pediatrics.
New Fellows of the Academy for
Teaching and Learning at UC include:
- Jason Blackard, PhD, associate professor of medicine
- Edmund Choi, PhD, associate professor of molecular genetics, biochemistry and microbiology
- Michael Lieberman, PhD, professor of molecular genetics, biochemistry and microbiology
- Peter Scheifele, PhD, assistant professor of communications sciences and disorders in the College of Allied Health Sciences,
- and Ruth Anne Van Loon, PhD, associate professor of social work in the College of Allied Health Sciences.
The Academy of Fellows for Teaching and Learning
provides leadership to improve the quality and depth of learning
experiences for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Fellows are
chosen based on their excellence in scholarly teaching and contributions
to student learning and assessment.
