Focus on Staff with Pam Koski

Just about 7 miles north of UC’s Medical Campus sits the UC Reading Campus, home to a group of researchers affiliated with the Metabolic Diseases Institute and many associated with the Cincinnati Diabetes and Obesity Center.

Pam Koski serves as program director for both, handling day-to-day campus needs, spreading the word about lectures and events and planning an annual research retreat.

What brought you to UC?
"I came to UC in 2005 for a joint administrative position in the planning and public relations departments at UC’s Academic Health Center. In 2009 I moved to the Reading Campus to work with the Metabolic Diseases Institute and I’m now program director the Metabolic Diseases Institute and the Cincinnati Diabetes and Obesity Center, reporting to the center’s director, Randy Seeley, PhD. Before coming to UC I worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Gap Inc., and Perfetti Van Melle USA in various administrative marketing and sales roles."

What are your responsibilities as program director?
"In my current role I manage the day-to-day administrative needs of the Reading Campus and conduct planning and organization for the Cincinnati Diabetes and Obesity Center annual research retreat, held this past year in May.”

What’s it like working at UC’s Reading Campus?
"Since the Reading Campus is a small campus, one of the advantages of working here is that everybody knows each other. All of the faculty are excited to share information regarding their successful research.  Some of the College of Medicine departments and divisions housed at the Reading Campus include endocrinology, psychiatry and pathology."

Tell us a bit about what you like to do outside of work.
"I live in Northern Kentucky and I’m lucky to be the grandmother of a 1-year-old granddaughter. I love spending time with her whenever I’m free.”
