Posthumous Nursing Diploma Presented to Family of Danielle Duell
On Monday, Sept. 30, the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing paid tribute to the family of nursing student Danielle Duell, 33, of Northern Kentucky, who died in a tragic horseback riding accident in April 2013.
Duell was scheduled to complete her Master of Science in Nursing degree, with a specialty area of Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), from the College of Nursings distance learning program in August 2013.
Nursing Dean Greer Glazer, PhD, presented Duells two young children, Ella and Sabin, with Danielles diploma. The Duell family requested that the children receive their mothers diploma. Danielles husband, Frank Duell, and more than a dozen of his late wifes immediate and extended family was also in attendance.
"This ceremony means so much to the family because we all saw the hard work and dedication she put into the program, says Catie Simmons, Danielles sister.
Danielle was a registered nurse (RN) in the Stress Lab at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Florence, Ky.
