Electrical Shutdown Will Affect Several Areas of MSB Saturday, June 28
An electrical shutdown will take place in the Medical Sciences Building from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 28, affecting several areas of the building. This shutdown is necessary to connect the existing building power source to new electric switchgear. Measures are being taken to keep critical areas operating with temporary electric service.
As a result of the shutdown:
Supply air handlers will operate at a reduced flow (about 80 percent of normal). It is expected that normal temperature control will be maintained. Air pressure in labs will be slightly more negative than normal (tending to go more from the corridor to the room).
There will be loss of the supply air that serves the Level R morgue, pathology morgue and the Center for Surgical Innovation space. Refrigerated coolers in the morgue areas will not be affected.
The restroom exhaust fan for the north half of MSB will not operate. As a result, there might be some odors in the restrooms on all levels.
The shutdown will not affect electric power to labs or the other parts of the building, and it will not affect any of the lab exhaust or fume hoods.
