Comparative Effectiveness and Outcomes Research Pilot Grants Offered
To spur the growth of comparative effectiveness research (CER) and patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) at the University of Cincinnati, UC Health and the UC offices of the vice president for research, dean of the College of Medicine and dean of the College of Nursing, are making available $100,000 for pilot projects. Up to five grants of up to $20,000 each will be awarded.
To be eligible, the principal investigator must hold a full-time faculty appointment within UC and submit any resulting applications through the university. Collaborations between colleges and with faculty based at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center or the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center are strongly encouraged.
Projects must focus on improving health care systems or on health disparities, two of the four priority areas identified by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), the main funding source for CER and PCOR. Health care systems research must be relevant to UC Health. All proposals must include participant or community stakeholders in project design, or use this funding opportunity as a means to engage stakeholders in the design of subsequent extramural grant proposals.
Priority will be given to projects that demonstrate a clear pathway to future competitive extramural funding.
A letter of intent is not required. Full applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. Sept. 1, 2014. For more information, see the request for applications or contact Debbie Lueders at debbie.lueders@uc.edu.
