Walkways Connecting Eden Garage to MSB & UCMC to Be Closed for 7 Weekends

Starting Friday night, Aug. 1, the walkways that connect Eden Garage to the Medical Sciences Building (MSB) and UC Medical Center (UCMC) will be closed for seven consecutive weekends to remove the old flooring and install new flooring. This closure includes the pedestrian bridge over Eden Avenue and the interior walkways that connect the bridge to Level E and Level G. (The bridge will not receive new flooring; it is being closed because it will lead to a dead end while work is being done.)

In addition, access between the MSB and UCMC on Level G will be blocked off during the closures. Persons wishing to travel between the MSB and UCMC on Level G will need to ascend or descend to a different level via stairs or elevator.

Persons wishing to enter or exit the MSB during periods the bridge and walkways are closed should use the CARE/Crawley Atrium entrance by walking across Eden Avenue using the crosswalk near the bridge. Please note that while the MSB and CARE/Crawley are unlocked from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, outside of those times and on the Labor Day holiday (Sept. 1) they will be locked and a UC identification card will be needed to open entrance doors.

Work will begin at 6 p.m. each Friday and continue until 6 a.m. the following Monday. During these times, the walkways and pedestrian bridge will be closed with barricades. Appropriate signage will be in place.

The final weekend for the closures is expected to be Sept. 12-15.
