Nursing Celebrates 125 Years

The University of Cincinnati College of Nursing marked its 125th anniversary Saturday, Nov. 8, with a "UC College of Nursing Day" proclamation from Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley and a new book commemorating the occasion. 


"University of Cincinnati College of Nursing: 125 Years of Transforming Health Care," written by freelance writer Wendy Hart Beckman, provides an account of the college's roots and transformation. It's available for purchase for $29.99 at orangfrazer.com.
 
The college’s anniversary celebration continues into the spring, culminating in the recognition of 125 alums with Alumni Legacy Awards. Winners will be celebrated in April at the college’s Alumni Weekend events. Nominations are being accepted through Dec. 15.

Funding expands UC research into weight gain side effects of bipolar medication

University of Cincinnati researchers have been approved for funding by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to expand the implementation of healthy lifestyle interventions and metformin prescription to help manage weight gain in overweight or obese youth taking second-generation antipsychotic medications.
