World AIDS Day Event Monday, Dec. 1
The University of Cincinnati Early Intervention Program (EIP) is partnering with other area HIV prevention programs to host a World AIDS Day event, Monday, Dec. 1, titled "Getting to Zero.
The event, free and open to the public, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County main branch, 800 Vine St.
The event will include free food and music and spoken word poetry and community art designed to encourage area youth to get the facts about HIV, get tested and "get to zero new HIV infections.
The UC Health Mobile Diagnostic Van will also be on site to perform free, rapid HIV testing.
The UC EIP has provided HIV prevention and testing services to patients in the emergency department at UC Medical Center since 1998. The program tests over 3,500 patients per year.
Others partnering to put on Mondays event include Planned Parenthood, Caracole, IV-CHARIS, Public Allies, the Central Community Health Board and the Cincinnati Regional Advisory Group.
