2015 Sigma Xi Award Nominations and Applications Are Due Jan. 23

The UC Chapter of Sigma Xi is accepting nominations for the 2015 Sigma Xi Young Investigator Award. This annual award, presented in conjunction with the Office of the Vice President for Research, recognizes a junior faculty member at UC for early career distinguished research accomplishments in a field of science or engineering appropriate to Sigma Xi. This award is made possible by the Violet M. Diller Endowment to the UC Chapter of Sigma Xi and the Office of the Vice President for Research.  Nomination forms are available.

Sigma Xi is also accepting nominations for high school math and science teachers of the year along with applications for full-time matriculated undergraduate and graduate students for Grants-in-Aid of Research awards in all areas of science and engineering. Three $3,000 awards will be made. Students may use the funds for travel expenses to and from a research site, to present research results at a national science or engineering meeting, or for purchase of consumable research materials and supplies or non-standard laboratory equipment necessary to complete a specific research project.

The deadline for all nominations and applications is Friday, Jan. 23, 2015.
