Catch First Glimpse of Center for Women's Cancer During Open House June 27

CINCINNATI—An open house to unveil the new Center for Women’s Cancer, housed on the third floor of the UC Health Barrett Cancer Center, 234 Goodman Ave., will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27. 

Tours of the new space and refreshments will be available, and UC Health Integrative Medicine will also be at the open house offering demonstrations in auricular acupuncture, breathing workshops, Y-Cat Yoga and massage therapy.

The center—equipped with a waiting room which will also be used for educational initiatives, four mammography suites, three ultrasound suites, 18 exam and 18 infusion rooms, a procedure room and a large work area for physicians and staff to promote communication between specialists and other care providers—will serve as a facility for dedicated women’s cancer care in the areas of breast imaging, infusion and special services along with consultation, second opinion and follow-up physician service for women suspected or diagnosed with breast or gynecologic cancers. There will also be clinical trial access for patients.

"The overall wellness of patients who come to the center is our highest priority,” says Rosemary Keiser, vice president of ambulatory service for UC Health, who adds that services including integrative medicine consultation, nutrition counseling, weight management, social work and financial counseling will also be offered in the space. "Planning for this space and execution of the project was a joint effort between cancer leaders Eric Eisenhauer, MD, gynecologic oncology, Mary Mahoney, MD, breast radiology, Arthur Evans, MD, obstetrics and gynecology, Elyse Lower, MD, breast cancer oncologist, and UC Cancer Institute Director William Barrett, MD, and we discussed each of their needs to make sure that the space would be exactly what was necessary for the best quality care and experience for patients.
