College of Nursing Consolidating Bachelor of Science to Medical Campus

After careful consideration, the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing has made the decision to consolidate the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program location to the UC medical (Procter Hall) campus only. Starting with the fall semester of 2016, students will only be offered admission to the BSN program on the medical campus Uptown.

"In recent years, the program has experienced a declining attendance at the UC East location in Batavia,” says Greer Glazer, PhD, dean of the College of Nursing. "In addition, the UC RN to BSN program is now available to students completely online. This allows associate-prepared nurses to obtain a BSN while living and working within their home community.”

This decision will not impact the number of students accepted into the UC Bachelor of Science of Nursing program. The program will continue to maintain 184 seats per year, all at the UC medical campus location noted Glazer.

The College of Nursing will work with approximately 50 current sophomores and juniors at the UC East location to graduate in a timely fashion, as classes at the location are phased out. The college is also committed to providing a BSN pathway for the Clermont and Batavia communities.

Students can still elect to enter the Pre-Nursing program at UC Clermont College to complete the first year of the BSN degree and prepare to apply for the BSN program on the medical campus. Additionally, UC Blue Ash College offers an associate degree in Nursing as an option for students who want to complete this degree and then apply for the RN to BSN program.

For registered nurses holding an associate degree in nursing interested in transitioning into the RN to BSN program, partnerships and articulation agreements are available with several associate degree programs. In addition, individuals can apply to the online RN to BSN program after graduating from regionally accredited associate degree nursing programs. Verification of regional accreditation status can be made at https://www.hlcommission.org/.

The UC College of Nursing is nationally recognized for innovation and leadership in nursing education. This decision is an effort to continuously improve the opportunities and resources available to UC BSN students.
