Celebrate Opening Day with Hoxworth Blood Center and Cincinnati Reds

Blood donors and baseballs fans have one last chance to get their limited-edition Cincinnati Reds t-shirt when they donate blood with Hoxworth Blood Center on Opening Day.

The Cincinnati Reds and Hoxworth Blood Center are teaming up to celebrate a belated Opening Day on Friday, July 24. Individuals who donate at one of Hoxworth’s seven Neighborhood Donor Centers will receive a special “There’s No Place Like HOME” t-shirt that was designed exclusively for the 2020 Hoxworth’s Reds Week blood drive that took place in June.

“Every year we are blown away by the support we get during our Reds Week blood drive. This year, the 2020 Reds Week blood drive registered almost 3,000 donors and collected 3,228 lifesaving blood products,” said Alecia Lipton, director of public relations for Hoxworth Blood Center. “Now that baseball season is officially kicking off, we’re thrilled to offer our donors another chance to earn their limited-edition t-shirt while saving lives in our community.”

Lipton added that the need for blood has increased in recent weeks as hospitals perform surgeries that were postponed at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Masks are required at all Hoxworth locations. Appointments for blood donation are highly encouraged at this time to manage donor flow and adhere to social distancing protocols. Donors can schedule appointments by calling (513) 451-0910 or by scheduling online at www.hoxworth.org.

Donate instruments at LINKS drive on May 10-11

May 6, 2024

Through the Lonely Instruments for Needy Kids (LINKS) program, you can donate your used band or orchestra instrument to a young musician who cannot afford to rent or purchase their own. The LINKS instrument donation drive is at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. this Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11 2024, at any Willis Music or Buddy Rogers Music location. A project of CCMpower in partnership with Willis Music and Buddy Roger’s Music, LINKS began in 1994 as the brainchild of CCM alumnus Bill Harvey (BM Music Education, 1971). The owner of Buddy Roger’s Music, Harvey wanted to fill the need for students whose parents were unable to buy, rent or borrow an instrument. The solution was to create a “recycling program” for musical instruments.
