UC students receive scholarships at Spirit of Construction gala

On Oct. 20, eight University of Cincinnati students received scholarship awards at the Spirit of Construction (SOC) Foundation’s Celebration of Construction Gala. The gala, which took place at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Downtown Cincinnati, celebrated the construction industry and recognized individuals for their professional contributions to the Greater Cincinnati area.
The SOC Foundation awarded the following UC students scholarships, based on scholastic achievement, leadership initiative, contributions to the field and financial need:
- Zach Greene, construction management ’19
- Erika Kiel, civil engineering ‘19
- Seth Reichenbach, architectural engineering ‘19
The SOC Foundation awarded the following UC students military scholarships, based on service as veterans or ROTC cadets:
- Kassidy Buschor, civil engineering ‘21
- Kayla Creter, construction management ‘19
- Augusta Hooks, construction management ‘23
The UC Foundation awarded the following UC students scholarships endowed by and named after Robert Dorsey, the UC professor emeritus who helped start the SOC Foundation. These students were also recognized at the gala:
- Kayla Creter, construction management ‘19
- Michael Salzler, construction management ‘21
- Savannah Swisher, architectural engineering ‘19
Additionally, George Webb, a senior principal at Terracon and graduate of UC’s civil engineering master’s program, received the SOC Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the construction industry and involvement in the community.
