Online graduate nursing program at UC ranked No. 10

Ranking shows improvement from 2018

The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Nursing came in at No. 10 in the U.S. News & World Report 2019 Best Online Programs rankings.

The rankings—pulled from surveying distance education programs offered by public, private and for-profit institutions—are based on factors such as graduation rates, academic and career support services offered to students and admissions selectivity.

The college’s online graduate program climbed from No. 11 in 2018, with an overall score improvement from 91 in 2018 to 94 this year.

“We are proud to consistently offer quality online nursing education to a growing number of students across the country. With over 60 percent of our student body as online learners, we pay special attention to creating programs that fit their needs,” said Greer Glazer, PhD, dean of the College of Nursing. “Our strong history of and commitment to providing an excellent, innovative education for both our on-campus and online students is reflected in our continued rise in these and other rankings.”

UC’s College of Nursing was one of the first nursing colleges in the country to offer a complete online program in 2005. Today, the college offers a growing number of specialty master’s degrees and certificates online, including Nurse Midwifery, Family Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Administration. More than 1,350 students are currently enrolled in the college’s online graduate nursing programs.

The commitment of the college’s faculty to teaching innovations has been noticed on a national scale. For the third consecutive time, the College has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for showcasing innovative uses of technology in learning, teaching and the school environment. The College of Nursing also received the 2018 Insight into Diversity Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award, marking the fourth consecutive year it has been so honored.
