UC’s impact on education, health, the economy and wider society will be on display
Get ready for the University of Cincinnati’s Bicentennial Research and Innovation Week 2019 will honor the university’s past 200 years of extraordinary research by showcasing impactful, imaginative and innovative work researchers at UC are currently engaged in.
This week-long April 1-6 event is a celebration of diversity and innovation at UC, including the broad societal impacts the work of UC researchers have on Cincinnati, the region and beyond.
This bicentennial edition of R&I Week is an important opportunity to highlight UC’s commitment to our current and future students, our community, and our partners.

These include
- Kick-off reception from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Monday, April 1, at the 1819 Innovation Hub.
- Display on connected autonomous vehicles, 9:15-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, in Nippert Stadium's West Pavilion, Third Floor/North Lounge.
- UC Equity and Inclusion Conference, noon-5 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, Tangeman University Center.
- IQ-E Pitch event, noon-5 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, Campus Recreation Center.
- Panel discussion on ending opioid addiction, featuring Lori Criss from the Ohio Governor's office; UC faculty member James Canfield, assistant professor of social work; Terri DeMiio, heroin reporter for The Cincinnati Enquirer, and J.D. Vance, author of “Hillbilly Elegy.” The panel runs from 3:30-5 p.m., Thursday, April 4, in the 1819 Innovation Hub.

“2025 has been a landmark year for kidney disease therapeutics, marked by a comprehensive slate of FDA approvals covering endothelin-receptor blockade, complement inhibition, GLP-1-based metabolic protection, and B-cell-directed therapy,” Prakash Gudsoorkar, MD, associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and staff nephrologist at UC Health, recently told MedCentral.
