UC seminar teaches lawyers, others acting techniques to enhance their skills
For all lawyers who take on “speaking parts” before the court, in negotiation, at deposition or trial, or for those who must speak with clients, committees or boards, the Center for Practice at the College of Law is offering the seminar “Stage Directions for Lawyers’ Speaking Parts." The event will be held 1-4:30 p.m., March 29, in room 114 at the College of Law.
The seminar will be led by faculty member Katherine Webster, CCM and London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Webster will introduce techniques for vocal reach and demonstrate how the attendees can strengthen their impact through timing, punctuation and pitch. The interactive program will give participants opportunity to practice the techniques. In addition, she will focus on the importance of body positioning, movement and gesture during delivery and their impact on judges, juries or larger audiences.
CLE: 3.25 hours (application pending). Cost: $25 (early registration); $35 after. Proceeds will help fund Cincinnati Law’s students’ coaching in trial practice class and in preparation for polished performance in trial practice competitions.
