UC Law School symposium examines trusts in the business world
The Corporate Law Center at the University of Cincinnati College of Law will host the symposium “The Business Use of Trusts,” an examination of the multitude of uses of trusts in business contexts. The day-long event will be held 8:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m., March 15 in room114 of the law school. The symposium is free. CLE: 5.75 (pending approval)
Registration: https://law.uc.edu/corporate-law-symposium.html or contact Lori Strait (513-556-0117) or via email at lori.strait@uc.edu .
Around the world, trillions of dollars of assets are held in business trusts, yet this topic has avoided scholarly attention. To address this deficit, the symposium will bring leading academics and practitioners to Cincinnati, where a sophisticated legal community has long utilized trusts to meet its clients’ business needs.
Keynote speaker for this event will be John Morley, professor of Law, Yale Law School. Professor Morley is a leading expert on the regulation and structure of investment funds, including mutual funds, private equity funds and hedge funds. His research on investment funds is one application of a broader interest in the law and economics of organization. Morley also writes about the law of trusts and estates and serves as the reporter for the Uniform Directed Trust Act. At Yale Law School, he has taught classes on business organizations, securities regulation, trusts and estates and investment management regulation.
Prior to joining Yale Law faculty, Morley was a member of the faculty at the University of Virginia School of Law and the Executive Director of the Center for the Study of Corporate Law at Yale Law School.
