Register now to join your colleagues as we welcome 7,000 new students and their families to campus on Aug. 20-22

President Pinto greets students and their families during move-in

Grab a co-worker and help give our new Bearcats and their families a warm welcome by volunteering for "Helping Hands," the University of Cincinnati's program to greet students as they move in Aug. 20-22.

More than 7,000 students will arrive on campus over the course of three days. While the student H.O.T. (Hall Opening Team) helps move carts full of students’ possessions into the halls, Helping Hands volunteers are needed to:

  • Welcome
  • Assist with directions
  • Answer questions
  • Provide water
  • Help unload vehicles

We suggest shifts of two or four hours, but any amount of time is appreciated. In order to help with planning, please sign up by Monday, Aug. 5.

Plan to attend the “All Hands” meeting from 1-2 p.m., Aug. 13, in the Nippert West Pavilion North Lounge to meet coordinators and other volunteers, review the hall opening plans, and receive your special edition Bicentennial Helping Hands polo shirt.

Those who wish to volunteer should get supervisor approval before registering. According to UC human resources and the U.S. Department of Labor polices, no vacation time should be required to volunteer, as you will be providing a tremendous service toward the university’s mission.

In appreciation, all volunteers and coordinators will receive:

• FREE lunch at CenterCourt or MarketPointe Dining Centers on the day served

• FREE entrance to the Campus Recreation Center during Welcome Week (Aug. 19-25)

• 10 Be Well UC points will be added directly to your account through uc.edu/hr/bewellucfor participating in this on-campus volunteer activity.

We will provide sunscreen or rain ponchos if necessary.

Visit the volunteer registration site for more information.

We were really impressed and grateful for the staff & student volunteers who, from the moment we pulled our car in, were there to help every step during the process! Great job!
