UC faculty offer tips for beating the flu

It’s hard to predict what this year’s flu season will look like. But getting a flu shot is a safe bet. Physician-faculty in the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine have been educating the public by speaking with local media about the importance of taking an annual flu vaccine to keep influenza at bay. Dr. Chad Coe, assistant professor of internal medicine and UC Health primary care physician, spoke with WLW 700 radio about this year’s flu season.

Trial results support weekly buprenorphine treatment of opioid use disorder during pregnancy

Supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), researchers led by the University of Cincinnati's John Winhusen published clinical trial results in JAMA Internal Medicine that found administering weekly injectable extended-release buprenorphine for treatment of opioid use disorder during pregnancy led to higher rates of abstinence from illicit opioids than buprenorphine given daily under the tongue, one of the standard methods of treatment.
