Ohio media: Gov. DeWine orders post-release control review

UC criminal justice professor appointed by Ohio governor as part of select committee to reexamine statewide policies on post-release control supervision of felony inmates

Ed Latessa, professor of criminal justice and director of the University of Cincinnati’s School of Criminal Justice, is among nine professionals named by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine to a working group to review statewide policies on post-release control supervision of felony inmates who have served their sentences. DeWine, who announced his Governor’s Working Group Oct. 28, said the committee will review and recommend improvements to the Ohio Adult Parole Authority’s post-release control supervision practices in Ohio. The move, the governor said, was prompted by concerns that current policies aren’t “strong enough” to monitor offender recidivism and protect the public.
