UC Safety Alert: Jan. 8, 2020

Dear UC Community,

Please be advised that a burglary occurred on Jan. 8, 2020, at approximately 3:15 p.m. in Morgens Hall. The suspect is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, wearing a green hoodie and grey sweatpants. The victim found the suspect in the room, which the suspect accessed through an unlocked door, and chased the suspect. The victim was able to retrieve the stolen belongings.

Important safety reminders:

• Keep doors and windows locked, even if you’re only leaving for a couple of minutes.
• Do not leave expensive items visible from outside of your home.
• Make sure the outside of your home is well lit at night.
• Leave some lights on inside when you are away.
• Do not post about your travels on social media until you have returned.
• Have an inventory of your valuables with make, model and serial numbers.
• Burglars tend to return to the same areas. If you see something suspicious, call the police.
• If you are a victim of a crime, call 911.
