Professor Hassett takes on some of the nastiest infections resistant to antibiotics

Journalist Paulo Suro speaks with Daniel Hassett, PhD, professor in the UC Department of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology, about his patented treatment AB569 and its possible use to treat cystic fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other infections. AB569 tackles some of the nastiest superbugs on the planet and currently being tested in human trials to ensure its safety for future patients.

Trial results support weekly buprenorphine treatment of opioid use disorder during pregnancy

Supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), researchers led by the University of Cincinnati's John Winhusen published clinical trial results in JAMA Internal Medicine that found administering weekly injectable extended-release buprenorphine for treatment of opioid use disorder during pregnancy led to higher rates of abstinence from illicit opioids than buprenorphine given daily under the tongue, one of the standard methods of treatment.
