WVXU: Commentary: Trump's lies about mail-in voting may have a hidden purpose
UC political scientist David Niven's opinion on why Trump balks at voting by mail
University of Cincinnati faculty member and political expert David Niven anticipates that President Trump will blame a rigged system if mail in voting is allowed in certain states and Trump loses the 2020 election; despite multiple academic studies of voter behavior which have found there is no appreciable difference between the number of Democrats and Republicans voting by mail.
"If he doesn't get the result he wants, he will conclude that there must have been something wrong with the process,'' Niven, a UC associate professor of political science, said in an interview with WVXU’s Howard Wilkerson on Cincinnati Edition.
Niven teaches American politics in UC's Department of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences and conducts research on campaigns, political communication and death penalty policy.
