Supporting those who served: new grant benefits military veterans at UC Blue Ash

As the number of military veteran students at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College increases, so does the financial support from the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). The organization recently provided a $20,000 grant to support military veterans attending UC Blue Ash. Over the past four years the DAV has provided a total of $60,000 in grants to the college.
“The DAV continues to be a great partner for our college. We truly appreciate the opportunity to enhance the services we provide to our veteran students through this very generous ongoing support,” said Josh Monson, program manager for veteran affairs at UC Blue Ash.
Monson notes that the funding will help fill financial gaps for many student veterans through scholarships and coverage of certain student fees.
“Not all Veterans qualify for full coverage tuition. For example, those in the reserves aren’t eligible to receive any tuition coverage from Veterans Affairs.” Monson adds that the money will also be used to continue to provide workshops and webinars that support career planning and job placement.
The DAV is a nonprofit organization that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families, helping more than a million veterans in positive, life-changing ways each year.
These recent financial contributions coincide with the increased commitment by UC Blue Ash to provide dedicated support for military veterans at the college. The Veteran Student Affairs office was created in 2013 when there were about 100 military veterans enrolled at the college. Today, that number has doubled.
