Though there will be no marching in formation, no color guard and no 21-gun salute this year, the University of Cincinnati's tradition of expressing gratitude to our nation's veterans continues this year.
As with so many other facets of our lives, the coronavirus pandemic has forced UC's annual observance of Veterans Day to go virtual. See UC President Neville G. Pinto's salute to service in the video below, which concludes with the traditional call-and-response playing of "Taps," performed this year by UC Marching Band trumpeters Noah Muse and Rob Dietz.

Aerospace engineer studying bio-inspired flight

Doctoral candidate Ahmed Elgohary chose the University of Cincinnati to further his education in aerospace engineering. Part of the Modeling, Dynamics, and Control Lab, he has conducted meaningful research work in the areas of nonlinear control systems and bio-inspired flight. Atop a roof at the University of Cincinnati, six high-tech glass houses that grow plants for biology in the College of Arts and Sciences. Greenhouse Manager Audrey Trauth is here most days tending the plant collection, which is organized into biomes to accommodate the desert, temperate and tropical plants.
