Cincinnati Innovation District drives workforce development
Adams, Husted write op-ed for Cincinnati Business Courier
Cincinnati has become a model for Ohio and for cities across the nation when it comes to solving pressing economic issues.
Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted and David Adams, executive director of the Cincinnati Innovation District and chief innovation officer at the University of Cincinnati, wrote a column for the Cincinnati Business Courier about how Cincinnati is driving workforce development to strengthen the economy.
In December, Cincinnati hosted lieutenant governors from throughout the United States as they discussed strengthening the U.S. economy.
“The location for the gathering — Cincinnati, in the heart of the Midwest — is no coincidence,” Husted and Adams wrote. “Strengthening the nation’s economy requires a concerted focus on our so-called ‘heartland.’ One of the most innovative solutions in the nation aimed at solving this problem is right here: the Cincinnati Innovation District.”
The CID, which brings talent, diverse thinkers, educators and commerce into one place to solve problems, has been replicated in Cleveland and Columbus.
“As a primary driver for talent attraction and development, the Cincinnati Innovation District has distinguished the region as a hub for a variety of companies that need talent,” Adams and Husted wrote. “In doing so, it has become a model for Ohio and for cities across the nation.”
