WCPO: UC, Mount St. Joseph and other universities choose remote learning to start the spring

Remote learning at UC will be in effect for the first two weeks of class

The surge in COVID-19 cases this winter has many Tri-State colleges rethinking return plans as some push back classes or go remote. The University of Cincinnati announced that classes would begin as planned on January 10 but that instruction would be remotely along with many other university operations until January 24. Jack Miner, vice provost of enrollment management, spoke with WCPO about the decision.

“A really big piece of the conversation was making sure that we were also creating a way that we were continuing to deliver the education and the classes to the students and we didn’t have a scenario where students were missing classes for a week or two at a time due to quarantine,” Miner told WCPO listeners.
