U.S. News and World Report: Signs that it's time for memory care
The University of Cincinnati's Rhonna Shatz provided her expertise for a recent U.S. News and World Report article about signs that a person with dementia may need more advanced care.
Advanced care can range from assisted living to nursing homes to specialized memory care for patients with dementia.
Shatz, DO, adjunct associate professor, division director for behavioral neurology, and the Bob and Sandy Heimann Endowed Chair in Research and Education in Alzheimer’s Disease in the UC College of Medicine, said that people with dementia are often cared for by spouses or significant others. But when the caregiver dies or has health problems of their own, the spouse being cared for may need a higher level of support like memory care.
