
CCM Jazz Orchestra featured in Mardi Gras concert at National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
Jazz trumpeter Ashlin Parker joins CCM’s big band for a celebration of music and culture on March 3
The boisterous notes of New Orleans’ opulent Mardi Gras will fill the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center's Harriet Tubman Theater during a concert featuring UC College-Conservatory of Music students and faculty beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 3.
A companion to the Freedom Center’s Black History Month programming, this off-campus New Orleans Mardi Gras Concert is a celebration of music and culture featuring New Orleans-based jazz trumpeter Ashlin Parker and the CCM Jazz Orchestra. Directed by CCM Director of Jazz Studies Scott Belck, DMA, the Saturday night concert promises an evening with all the revelry and flair of Mardi Gras, followed by a reception and meet-and-greet with Ashlin Parker.

CCM's big band will be joined by an internationally acclaimed guest artist for this special off-campus performance. Ashlin Parker is based in New Orleans, where he is sought after for big band, small ensemble and solo performances. His trumpet has taken him around the world, including South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. Parker leads the Trumpet Mafia and has played with legendary artists Aretha Franklin, Ellis Marsalis, Jason Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Herlin Riley, Roland Guerin, Leroy Jones, Derek Douget, Adonis Rose, Dr. John, Karl Denson, Igor Butman, Nicholas Payton, Rafael Saadiq, Dee Dee Bridgewater, the O’Jays and more. He is a Grammy Award-winning artist and has played on more than 30 albums with several featured solos.

Tickets for this National Underground Railroad Freedom Center concert are $25 for the public and $20 for Freedom Center Members.

The nearest parking garage is located below the museum in the Central Riverfront Parking Garage (Race Street entrance recommended). Parking rates may vary due to games, concerts or special events. This public garage is fully accessible via elevators. Learn more about garage parking.
Limited, metered street parking is available adjacent to the museum. Guests may use pay machines or download the Cincy EZPark app.
