Laura Brunner recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Real Estate Award
The Port of Greater Cincinnati Authority's president and CEO to be honored at annual awards dinner
The University of Cincinnati Real Estate Center has named Laura Brunner, president and CEO of the The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority, to receive the 2023 Distinguished Real Estate Service Award. Earmarked for a real estate professional who best exemplifies an entrepreneurial spirit and concern for their community, Brunner was selected amongst her peers for this lifetime achievement.
The 32nd Annual Real Estate Center Program and Dinner will take place on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Cincinnati's Music Hall. The event has historically attracted hundreds of local commercial real estate professionals as part of celebrating the accomplishments of the center, program, faculty, staff and distinguished students and alumni.
“The selection of Laura Brunner as the 2023 Distinguished Service Award recipient is both well-deserved and a testament to her many years of service to the Greater Cincinnati real estate community,” said Carl Goertemoeller, executive director of the UC Real Estate Center. “She embodies all of the qualities reflected in our past honorees and will serve as a benchmark for the future honorees.”
Laura Brunner
Throughout her career, Brunner has consistently challenged the status quo and leaned into risks to improve the quality of life for all Cincinnatians. In 2022, Brunner gained national recognition when she led the unprecedented effort to acquire 194 single-family homes from an out-of-town investor to keep the American dream of homeownership alive for local residents. She is committed to reducing the racial wealth gap through real estate equality, passionate about the arts and social service, and has spent more than a decade leading The Port’s commercial, industrial, public finance, and residential development strategies.
“It is remarkable to win this award at such a pivotal point in the real estate industry,” said Brunner. “As the landscape evolves and the players change, the people we can serve through increasing access and expanding opportunity will remain my north star. I am committed to this work and dedicated to continuing to help shape the possibilities of real estate in this region to ensure we make the highest impact for the good of everyone. Thank you to UC Real Estate for recognizing my passion for this work.”
Registration for the 32nd Annual Real Estate Awards Dinner is now open, in addition to Annual Dinner sponsorship opportunities.

University of Cincinnati’s Lindner College of Business was one of just 16 institutions representing USA Today’s Ad Meter School Spotlight program, where students got to evaluate the ads and publish their findings alongside industry professionals. The students' top-rated commercials largely aligned with Ad Meter’s official rankings, with Budweiser's "American Icons" earning the highest score. The participants included over 300 students across two marketing classes taught by assistant professor-educator Summer Shelton. She came to the University from a marketing research firm and brings experience ranking Super Bowl commercials as an industry professional herself.
