WCPO: Higher education bill introduced in Ohio

UC political scientist comments on proposed Ohio education bill

Senate Bill 83 is proposed Ohio legislation, with regard to higher education. The bill, among other items, addresses bias in the classroom and prevents teachers from going on strike.

The bill includes items that would typically be addressed individually, says David Niven, an associate professor in UC’s School of Public and International Affairs.

Niven told WCPO:  "One of the things that's really striking, as we've seen this debate play out in other states, it's generally played out one piece at a time," said Niven. "This is everything in one bill."

Niven is an often-cited media source on state and national politics.

Proponent and opponent testimony for the bill will follow in the coming weeks.
