Daily News: Jesse Watters nabs Tucker Carlson’s 8 p.m. slot at Fox News
UC expert in journalism weighs in on the new Fox News lineup.
Jeffrey Blevins, a professor in the UC departments of journalism and political science, is the featured expert in national news article that summarizes the new lineup of Fox News personalities.
When cable news host Tucker Carlson departed Fox News earlier this year, a replacement for his prime 8 p.m. slot was quickly announced: Jesse Watters, who has been with the cable channel for two decades.
“Not that he hasn’t said some outrageous things before or hasn’t had his share of controversy,” Blevins said of Watters. “He seems to smile a bit more — has a bit of a softer edge.”
Watters started on Fox as a man in the street reporter and worked his way up to hosting his own show, “Watter’s World”.
Blevins says that he feels Watters resonates both with your strong conservatives and your more middle-of-the-road conservatives.
Blevins is the co-author of “Social Media, Social Justice and the Political Economy of Online Networks.” He is a trusted media resource, and he has provided expertise on electronic media regulation and Federal Communications Commission policymaking to international, national, regional and local news media.
