Tee off for a lifesaving cause

9th Annual Hoxworth Blood Center Golf Outing + Fundraiser Event

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, announces its 9th Annual Golf Outing, a charitable event aimed at raising funds for a new bloodmobile. The golf outing is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Losantiville Country Club.

Hoxworth Blood Center plays a crucial role in the community as the primary supplier of blood products to more than 30 hospitals within the Greater Cincinnati area. Through their annual golf outing, Hoxworth aims to raise funds for a replacement blood mobile to continue its lifesaving mission of serving patients in the Tri-State.

The bloodmobile is projected to facilitate approximately 172 blood drives each year, an estimated contribution that is expected to accumulate more than 94,000 units of vital blood, bolstering the health and wellbeing of the community.

Participants are invited to experience a full day of golfing starting with registration at 10 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 11 a.m. at Losantiville Country Club, located at 3097 Losantiville Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45213. Attendees will be treated to a Hoxworth swag bag, breakfast provided by Busken Bakery, lunch provided by Skyline Chili, plus the opportunity to win door prizes, raffles, and participate in the silent auction.

New this year, Hoxworth's online auction is open to the public, allowing attendees and supporters the opportunity to contribute monetarily to Hoxworth’s mission of saving lives by bidding on different items and experiences. All funds raised through the online auction will also go towards funding a new bloodmobile.

"We invite the community to join us in our mission to save lives through the power of blood donation and financial giving," said José Cancelas, MD, PhD, director, CEO, Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati. "The funds raised from this golf outing will bring us one step closer to acquiring a new bloodmobile, ensuring that we can continue to serve patients in need for years to come."
