DAAP, A&S launch cutting-edge games and animation program

New BFA program bridges the gap between traditional art and the evolving world of digital media

The University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), in collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S), has unveiled an innovative bachelor of fine arts (BFA) program, catering to the burgeoning fields of games and animation. This initiative aims to equip students with the skills and creativity needed to thrive in the dynamic realms of gaming and animation.

This new BFA program is designed to blend the artistic essence of animation with technology, fostering a curriculum that bridges the gap between traditional artistry and the rapidly evolving world of digital media. Students will delve into the intricacies of game design, 3D animation, virtual reality, and interactive storytelling, ensuring a comprehensive education that aligns with industry demands.

The program boasts exceptional facilities, including cutting-edge animation studios and gaming labs, providing students with a hands-on learning experience. With a faculty comprising industry professionals and seasoned educators, the BFA program is set to offer a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing graduates for success in competitive markets.

Jordan Tate, School of Art professor and program coordinator, emphasized the program's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community, welcoming students from varied backgrounds to contribute to the ever-expanding landscape of gaming and animation. The curriculum prioritizes collaboration, encouraging students to work on interdisciplinary projects that mirror real-world industry scenarios.

Industry partnerships and internships, including international opportunities, are integral components of the BFA program, ensuring students have the opportunity to apply their skills in professional settings.
