UC to host Imagining America’s National Gathering in October 2025
The event will mark the 25th anniversary of IA’s National Gathering
The University of Cincinnati (UC) has been selected to host Imagining America’s (IA) 2025 National Gathering in October. The event marks the 25th anniversary of IA’s National Gathering.
The IA National Gathering is an annual convening of public scholars, artists, students, designers and cultural organizers who are addressing the nation’s most critical issues. UC and IA will work with Cincinnati area leaders to organize the 2025 event.
UC Provost Valerio Ferme, PhD
“The University of Cincinnati is excited to serve as the host institution for the 2025 Imagining America National Gathering. We are energized by the opportunity to partner with the consortium and demonstrate the university’s strategic strengths in community engaged research and experience-based learning,” says UC ‘s executive vice president of academic affairs and provost, Valerio Ferme, PhD.
“We believe the gathering will showcase and highlight the depth of our partnerships with local, regional and national communities in the humanities, arts and related disciplines, as well as providing us with the opportunity to converse with artists and public scholars from across the country about their experiences and interventions in advancing community-engaged scholarship.”
The IA National Gathering will offer participants a three-day immersive experience to connect, dialogue, learn and strategize around the ways in which the arts, humanities and design build public knowledge and collective imagination towards transformative action.
“I have had the honor to learn about the deep, thoughtful and creative partnerships between University of Cincinnati faculty, staff and regional organizations working to address pressing issues such as health disparities, childhood poverty and housing equity. I know that they have much to teach the IA national network,“ says Erica Kohl-Arenas, Imagining America faculty director. “Given the large, joyful groups from the University of Cincinnati who have attended past gatherings, I also know that they will serve as generous, welcoming hosts for what promises to be an energizing convening of the diverse and growing IA community as we celebrate 25 years and look towards the future.”
Final dates for the gathering will be confirmed in Fall 2024.
