Hoxworth Blood Center celebrates Blood Collectors Week with expanded hours, more chances to save lives
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Blood Collectors Week (Sept. 7–14), a national recognition honoring the frontline professionals who make every blood donation possible.
From phlebotomists and apheresis specialists to mobile bus drivers, technicians, donor recruiters, volunteers and leadership staff, Hoxworth’s dedicated team provides the vital link between generous donors and the local patients whose lives depend on them. Without their expertise, compassion and commitment, local hospitals would not have the lifesaving blood products they need.

Expanded hours, more chances to donate
This year, in honor of Blood Collectors Week, Hoxworth is giving the community more chances than ever to step up and save lives. Several Neighborhood Donor Centers are now offering extended hours and additional days of operation, making it easier for donors to schedule an appointment at a time that works for them at any of the seven Neighborhood Donor Centers:
- Hoxworth Anderson (open 7 days)
- Hoxworth Blue Ash (open 7 days)
- Hoxworth Central (open Monday-Friday)
- Hoxworth Ft. Mitchell (open 7 days)
- Hoxworth North (open Monday-Saturday)
- Hoxworth Tri-County (open Wednesday-Friday)
- Hoxworth West (closed Sunday)
“Blood cannot be manufactured — it must come from volunteer donors,” said David Oh, MD, Hoxworth Blood Center’s co-director. “We rely on more than 450 donors every single day to provide lifesaving blood products to more than 30 area hospitals. Every donation is a chance to give hope to someone battling cancer, recovering from trauma or undergoing surgery.”
In addition to the expanded hours at the Neighborhood Donor Centers, you can also celebrate Blood Collectors Week at Hoxworth’s FINAL Cincinnati Favorites Blood Drive of 2025! That’s happening at Montgomery Inn - The Boathouse, 925 Riverside Drive, from 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. on both Sept. 9 and 10. Every donor receives:
- $10 Montgomery Inn gift card
- bottle of barbecue sauce
- boxed lunch from Montgomery Inn - The Boathouse
- collectable Cincinnati Favorites cup
- one-of-a-kind Elly De La Cruz t-shirt
Come out, give blood and enjoy some local flavor while helping save lives in our community. Walk-ins welcome until 3 p.m., appointments encouraged. How the community can take action
Hoxworth is calling on local media and the community to celebrate Blood Collectors Week by rolling up a sleeve. Coverage and participation during this week can inspire more donors, help maintain a steady blood supply and directly impact patients right here in Greater Cincinnati.
