UC instructor competes on 'Squid Game: The Challenge'

Real-life applications of the reality show in the classroom

The latest season of Netflix’s “Squid Game: The Challenge” reality show featured hundreds of contestants aiming for a multi-million dollar prize. One of those contestants was a University of Cincinnati instructor.

Carl H. Lindner College of Business adjunct marketing instructor Jane Davis was one of 456 people chosen to compete in the London-based show.

“I love reality TV, but I also love games. I think it comes from being in sales,” Davis said. Her daughter convinced her to audition after the two binged the first season together.

Davis teaches Marketing 3000 - Confident Selling, where she integrates gameshow-themed elements into her teaching. “I have review games that are based on the challenges we did in the show,” she said. “The students really enjoy the collaboration.” Lindner sales students are educated to be creative, helpful and problem-solving-focused sales professionals.

With over 20 years of experience in sales, Davis is now in her second semester of working with UC. “I knew eventually one day I'd want to teach,” she explained. “I love teaching. It's kind of where I thrive.”

"Squid Game: The Challenge" is now streaming on Netflix.
