UC unveils Veterans Day ceremony plans
U.S. Army veteran and UC alumnus Carl Whalen will headline annual ceremony
Spectrum News1 reports that U.S. Army combat veteran Carl Whalen will serve as the 2025 guest speaker at the University of Cincinnati’s annual Veterans Day ceremony, taking place Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. in the Tangeman University Center Great Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Veterans Day, a federal holiday observed annually on Nov. 11, is preceded each year by UC’s ceremony since the university is closed on federal holidays.
About the speaker: Carl Whalen served as a medic during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UC in 2017 and later founded a nonprofit dedicated to honoring fallen heroes and supplying lifesaving equipment to first responders in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
The resource fair will take place immediately following the ceremony, from approximately 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the TUC Great Hall.
Representatives from the Veterans Administration, Wounded Warrior Project, The Vets Center, Hamilton County Veterans Service Commission, UC Human Resources, financial services company PRIMERICA and local American Legion Post 484 will be on hand to assist with benefits, financial and employment opportunities.
